Goodbye, as our longest standing trustee retires!

We are sadly saying goodbye to our wonderful Treasurer, Julian Sherwood, who is retiring from the Board of Trustees after 12 years.

Julian served articles with and qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse, London. Since joining Rank Xerox in 1977, he has had senior financial management responsibilities with Chloride Group, Millicom International, One2One, Granada/ITV and Centrica before retiring in 2010. Julian is also Treasurer of a North London charity, Crouch End Open Space. Other interests include Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society.

Read on for some reflections from Julian about his time at APT…

3 words to describe APT:

Fun, Innovative, Collegiate

How has APT changed in the last 12 years?

In many ways, surprisingly little. The quality of the art exhibited is consistently high, there has not been a dramatic turnover of artists and member involvement is as high as before. And the completion of the Welding Shed, and the modernisation of the gallery and office accommodation have helped make the buildings more attractive.

Memorable moments whilst Treasurer?

Certainly the official opening of the Welding Shed by the local MP. And the reopening of the gallery with new exhibitions when Covid restrictions ended.

What will you miss?

Open Studios weekend, always a pleasure to see so much excellent art in one visit.

Trustee meetings, discussing how we could further develop APT's potential.

Thank you Julian, we wish you all the best for your next adventure!
