Margaret Higginson
Margaret a Canadian born sculptor finds her forms by going on a journey into the material she is working in. Following its texture, reading its history and allowing its nature to express itself. To find a fossil buried in the stone is a cause for wonder. To catch daylight through fine alabaster is to remember its former use in the windows of medieval churches. Texture is a temporal event.
Margaret Higginson has been exploring the soul of wood through this pandemic and the beauty of Trees; how we are connected to them and more than we know, they to each other.
Through her work Margaret Higginson makes us question our relationship with nature while highlighting its majestic beauty.
