This exhibition examines an exploration of colour its history and the multifarious ways in which contemporary artists have employed it to extraordinary effect.

Introduction

This exhibition examines an exploration of colour its history and the multifarious ways in which contemporary artists have employed it to extraordinary effect. Bringing together an eclectic group of contemporary artists spanning the generations. The show examines both gestural and geometric painting and the possibility and potential of colour in today's environment.

The ambition is always to observe and ponder the rich visual language and pure sensual experience of colour as a phenomenon. By focusing on abstraction, we hope to unburden ourselves of real-world connotations and references and instead, allow colour to be the primary agent of consideration.

The exhibition seeks  to develop a valuable context in which to appreciate the shear diversity of approach in which artists utilise colour and to present a disparate yet related selection of works together for the first time.
