David Webb (b.1973,
Exeter) gained his MA Fine Art (Painting) at Canterbury Christ Church
University in 2000, before studying at the Cyprus College of Art
(where he is a Cornaro Institute Fellow) and gaining a residency
award at the Florence Trust, London, in 2002-3. He took part in
the 2006 Triangle Artists' Workshop in New York and in 2007/8 was
awarded painting fellowships at the MacDowell Colony and Yaddo in
the USA.
He exhibits
nationally and internationally and exhibitions include the Wales
Drawing Biennial (1998) Gyumri International Biennial, Armenia (2004)
BP Portrait Award at The National Portrait Gallery (2005) Jerwood
drawing prize (2008) and Jerwood Contemporary Painters (2009). He
has work in public and private collections and has shown at MoMA
Wales, Long and Ryle, Flowers and Transition Gallery in London,
and the Painting Center, New York.
David has numerous
awards including a fellowship from the Gihon River Collective for
a residency in summer 2012 at the Vermont Studio Center. In addition
he has curated several exhibitions including 'Uncaught Hares' for
the Stephen Lawrence Gallery, University of Greenwich, and has published
writing, such as 'Mother Hen' for Garageland Magazine.
David lives
in London SE London and has held a studio at A.P.T. since 2003.
He has taught painting at Spelthorne College, Middlesex and has
worked as a visiting lecturer at Leeds University and Lewisham College.
He has taught part-time at the Conservatoire, Blackheath, since
1999.
